Junkyard Dogs All-Rescue Flyball Club Debuts a Flyball World First: A Junior Handlers Team Under 12 Years Old
At the U-FLI sanctioned RPM Flyball Tournament held at the Springfield Oaks Activity Center in Davisburg, Michigan, on January 19, 2008, Junkyard Dogs All-Rescue Flyball Club entered a team of junior handlers who named themselves the Barking Brats. The all-girl, all-rescue team ranged in ages from 9 to 11 years old. This is a first in flyball history, to have an all-junior handler team under 12 years in age. And, as an added benefit, all the dogs they ran were adopted rescues. The team consisted of Emi Iwao from Belleville, MI running Rodger (Italian Greyhound mix); Abby Bowers from Leslie, MI running Taffy (All-American); Shayla Zilinsky from Sterling Heights, MI running Lance (Golden Retriever/Collie mix); and Eri Iwao also from Belleville, MI running Rio de Janaro (Border Collie).
