Sallie is rambunctious, intelligent, and independent-minded. She loves food and can get on a counter by pushing up a chair and climbing it. She can jump, in a single leap, onto a table. Because of this, Sallie was given a job: basset hound athlete. She has several titles in agility. At basset events, she has won contests for best trick, swimming, kissing, bowling, and eating. Sallie is learning obedience, rally, freestyle, and tracking.

Sallie’s true vocation is Flyball. Of 8 bassets successfully trained, she ranks tops in NAFA and U-FLI. At a recent tournament, she won a special award for having a Pawsitive Attitude: not the fastest dog on her team, but getting the job done-- smiling the whole time she is racing. This typifies Sallie, despite all her training, does her own thing with a sense of humor.
